Morning all

Bit of advice needed on a very large modern static caravan/mobile home a customer has bought to be sited on his land (Farm) that he intends to move his son into.
The supply will come from a modern TPN Wylex board, it will have its own TT installation, the caravan is all
electric including the central heating system. The main board in the van is protected by a 63A 30mA RCD.
I intend to run the supply in 16mm SWA XPLE it will be clipped direct through large barn with the final 3 meters being buried. Total run is 55 meters.
Main question is what to use to protect the cable at the main board does it need to be RCD/RCBO or will a standard type B MCB suffice? If using RCD/RCBO would it need to be 100mA?

Thanks

If you want to protect your supply cable through this barn etc, then you'll need to provide a 100/300mA S type RCD, or someone will be needing to run 55 metres to reset the upstream RCD device every time there is a fault!! lol!!

Nothing stopping you using a DP MCB, but personally, on farm TT installations i prefer to lean on the side of more is always better!! lol!!

Don't they always say that?

What you have to remember, is that static caravans (leisure accomodation vehicles) aren't classed in the special locations. It says in the regs that you treat it as a normal installation - like feeding a submain to a garage ect..

As E54 said, a mcb will surfice.
