UK Steel plate?

This is in a flat, the plasterboard at the back is the bathroom wall surface. Is it appropriate to protect the incoming and tails with a steal plate fitted behind the DNO board? Worry about penetration form the bathroom but also Eddy currents and heating of a steal plate. Obviously the CUs will be changed.

Economy 7, the meter has 2 line outs with 1 N and 1 line in.

Hopefully the Electrician will sort it all out. I’m thinking about how to mechanically protect it. As I said I’m a bit worried that someone will put a nail or screw right into one of the line conductors and bang. Once the cu are changed there will be rcd protection. I was wondering if a steal plate would be a good solution. Am I worried about nothing? Just after some guidance before I get the sparks in. How do you see it?

You do not need to worry about eddy currents so long as all pairs of lives and neutrals pass through the same hole so you don't have a shorted turn

Yea, that whole arrangement below the CUs with a 1.5mm or 2mm thick earth bonded steal plate. That was my thought as a drill could easily reach any of that from the bathroom side. But open to any advice. I’m building a cabinet as well to enclose it from the front. The instillation is from the late 80s

Thanks, they won’t be passing through holes but running in parallel with the plate probably about 20 - 40 mm away.

They aren't service heads, they are isolation links, you can identify them by the red colour, the service will terminate at the metering position.

This is one of them "BNO" setups isn't it, supply is owned by the DNO but the property owner is responsible for it or something like that.

Is this still compliant regarding the earth coming off the neutral, its a CNE cable but after the meter/isolator.

There is a label on it to the right if you zoom in. It says it’s connected to a protective multiple earth system.

Anyone drilling /fixing should be aware of what may be behind, especially as they'll have the C.U's a a big clue.

Not needed / impractical to do.
To be fully effective you'd have to pull all the plasterboard off and put plate in all the cavities above where the cables pass through.
It's more likely that someone would but a screw through the cables in the timbers with holes in.

I wouldn't worry about it install them so they are 50mm+ from the board.
