Today I had the misfortune to have my van turned over by some theiving little ****............Anyway they stole my Fluke 1652 Mult-functional tester, so now I need a new one......But which?
I dont know to if I should get another fluke or a megger? Any suggestions?

Hi definatly a megger (1502)(1552)or (1553) if your flush, much better than a fluke! and take a look on ebay for your tester? when the results come up just tap in closest to your address and bingo! then pop round to view it, hope you get it back..

Megger, every time. Sorry to hear of your misfortune...can you get it traced from the serial number taken to the local wholesalers? they'll need it calibrated..

sorry to hear this and the thieving little c**** wont even know what theyre handling, as for a replacement, i havent used the instruments you speak of but when testing circuits and i dont get the results i expect, having used both fluke and megger, i never doubt the fluke, anything else and im always thinking maybe im right and the meters wrong( which has proved the case on many occasion)

Where did they get nicked from, could be of intrest to fellow forum mebers in your area if there are any.

Anyway my vote goes for the Megger, I have used both before at college doing my course and also with fully qualified sparks and I prefer the Megger for some reason. Great bit of kit, of which I am in the process of saving up for to add to my kit.

Also very sorry to hear about your loss ! as well as ebay as said you can always try your local gumtree ie i live in Reading and my local one is reading gumtree etc id also try your local cash converters ! they might be able to email other branches about your stolen fluke and other gear etc as for the tester dont know think there both good !
Hope you get a result one last thing are the police involved ? they might catch the little $$$$ you never know ! Just after i moved in with my now mrs bout 12 yrs ago i left a snap-on toolbox complete with about £7k of tools inside that me and me dad went halves on over a few years of saving etc and some little same as who had your gear broke into their locked shed/workshop and stole it ! reported mine to the police but all the woman on phone said is well we can send a pc down to take a look and a statement/discription of the stolen stuff but you wont see that again so dont think its worth it ! now thats what i call taking the pc ! sounds like it was them that had it ! you might be lucky though and get your gear back ! hope so mate ! pitty they dont let you punnish them ! out comes the magnum and go ahead punk make my BANG oops !

Jeeeez, how bloody annoying. The serial number is exclusive and needs to be recorded on any certificates...shame that serial number doesn't need to be submitted to the local authority as part of the regs submission.

Anyhoo, my Megger MF 1552 has been bullet-proof and has never let me down. Horses for courses I know. When I did my 17th Edition ugrade this year the test meters were Alphatek/Metrel any they were quite impressive....cheaper too.

Sorry to hear that mate, i love my fluke 1652 and don't think i'd want a different meter, there's too many thieving f***ing scrotes out there these days just makes you want to catch them chuck in the back of your van and drive them to a secluded spot and make sure they never steal again

Megger 1553, Brilliant. Hope you had van tool insurance? i know A-Plan do up to 2500 quid tool cover for 84 quid a year (includes overnight cover). With working in London I find it a must. My mate got turned over last year. Nicked few De Walt pieces and his Megger.

Thats a total bummer, know what you mean about the police, when i reported my van stolen bloke on the desk never even looked up and said " yea there is a gang opperating in the area two others where stolen last night" Oh that's nice to know cheers

Tester: I Have a Megger 1552 bought off E-bay £330. been good as gold and dead easy to use.

Lastly was your van sign written?

You might as well post the serial number of the stolen meter here. You never know someone watching might get offered one and remember the forum and check.

This stuff probably just ends up as a door stop in some teenage potheads house, having been sold for a teenth.
