Well it is a first for me!
Sent one of the lads out this morning to connect a couple of welfare cabins on a site in the centre of the village where our office is , and he phoned up saying that all we have is a live service cable just sitting in the box !?
This is the photo I received

Ahh, I mis read what was missing.
Why would someone steal that??

Someone who has access to a supply, maybe one running across a field either under or over, and wants to run a load off it without tripping the upstream fuses and drawing attention to themselves.
Fitting a cutout with fuses would give them some protection, maybe.
Of course they may also think that fitting a 3ph cutout to a single phase supply will give them 3 ph.

It would be nice to know the future of that service head and it’s consequences but unless the crispy critter make it to the ‘local rag’, we’ll never know!

Few years ago a guy was electrocuted after climbing a fence, clearly labelled with danger notices, breaking a door lock and trying to steal copper from inside the local sub station .

Huge amount of sympathetic response from community about his death. They felt more should be done to prevent "accidents" like that happening.

Is that supply cable ferruled - or aluminium ?
Nope that's the aluminium service cable .
It was about 20ft longer and made of in a bungalow , but our client had it removed / cut shorter and placed at the side of the site before they demolished the bungalow ready for new build.

Hi Dave , not that I have seen in side a head before , honest me lord!
But it looks pretty much standard for 69kva from UKPN .
Having said that it could have been a 60 / 80amp supply in the bungalow but we were not involved with the supply move , hence the upside down meter box as noticed by littlespark in a previous post.
