There has been a stolen neutral incident in West London on Thursday morning, someone stole the neutral link from the substation and then it was quite spectacular inside 300+ properties and a Petrol Filling Station! At the start of the emergency the fire service had 8 fire engines and their mobile command center to deal with any fires..

Last Thursday? or do you mean this morning?

One of my clients in Orpington (SE London) had a power cut which was apparently "at the substation" for several hours on Sunday night - had me panicking for a few when he rang me since he's part way into a loft conversion and though I might have done something stupid

It is worrying it can be so easily pinched and that the thieves get away with it. Better security and remote surveillance methinks.

The problem is they turn up in black clothing and balaclavas, and they'll probably use axes, angle grinders, whatever. Let's face it they aren't bothered about a neat finish. They'll be in and out in double quick time. Smart water is a good solution for stuff like this.

just been the tool shop to buy a particular deep 10mm socket. outside is a Range Rover on bricks, no wheels. Mrs. says " so that's where you were last night. I thought you was cheating on me with a slapper".

Never even noticed that mistake. Not like me!
me neither till it was pointed out.

and i came out of the tool shop not only with a ÂŁ9 socket, but also a Bahco 16oz, claw hammer. " youse already got a hammer" she sez. " Yes " sez me, "but a Bahco hammer is better cred than a B&Q one". then was treated to 30 minutes silence. need to buy some more hammers.

pete will understand.

We still get regular thief's on our subs even on sites with electric fences and remote camera monitoring.

Smart water ect doesn't work as there still scrap metal places that will take the copper.

Mind you scrap metal places are not as bad as pawn shops for stolen goods handling.
