STORAGE HEATER

I would like to have a link from here to my web site. Can anyone help? We do all types of storage heater repair.

specialist in storage heater repairs !

Lets start listing what could go wrong (please add what i miss)

Electricity supply company timer does not switch on or off, for off peak times ( had one where was on 24 hours and caused a fire in main DB, please note storage heaters are only 7 hours rated)
Over heat stat/link has tripped or needs replacing (click the button to reset or replace the link)
Element gone (never in 24 years have i come across this)
Faulty switch to supply of storage heater, check and replace if needed ( not a common issue for a 20 amp double pole switch)
You forgot the bricks could be faulty. Lol

I've had a faulty element don't remember the make of heater, only one side getting hot, took cover off and removed cover in front if bricks, first ow of bricks out, fund element it looked like a long kettle element, fond ths to be open circuit. I ended up swapping the element out of a unused heater, was for a old couple in the village I don't think. Even charged them for it.

i have never had a faulty element on a storage heater (not even the old 1960's type, on a oven etc yes)
And Electric will you go charge them :(, stripping a storage heater down takes at least 15 mins once cold :)

lol,

asbestos never come across in storage heater

This was back in the 1980's can't remember the make but the whole site had to be cleared as they could not be repaired any more once asbestos was found in the insulation. It was a commercial site so 28 new heaters were fitted on a one for one basis was a pain unloading them 7 tonnes of bricks to be moved round the building

Have replaced a few storage heater elements in the past but not done any for a good few years now so may be the elements have improved

I've only come across a couple and tbh it's a very common type of heating round here.

On my list of jobs for tomorrow is to look at a Dimplex XLS.... only put in a few years back has stopped working.

Any common probs which I could look out for ? (Obviously will be checking supply and dp switch first)

Cheers Sy:rolleyes2:

I did one last week Thermal fuse had gone. Replaced it and we are now back on line.
If the heater is older than 20 years then scrap it because you will not get the parts . Use the heat bricks as door stops

Same here, totally burnt out along with the other bit next to it and link wire between.

And the customer was adamant that they hadnt covered it up

Seems a common fault where the client uses it to dry out the washing and then wonders why it has overheated. The moisture gets in as well and rusts up all the parts
