Im I missing something ?

been checking 2 x ring finals yesterday and found the following results :-

R1 Rn R2 R1+R2

0.36 0.36 0.45 0.18 for length of est circuit r1&rn values seem about right

0.47 0.47 1.38 0.35 cant check length with this but most be loose cpc somewhere

I thought well ill check for loose connection on both and found nothing, well I checked all accessible one/what I could find

anyone else got thoughts on this please there is only loose damaged connection

Have not read all of the post but firstly id be looking for any noticable alterations and starting there. It will more than likely be a poor connection in a junction box under floor boards or connections made of behind a kitchen unit for example. Or try following a logical route using "long lead" method and notin any considerable rises in test values to pin point the location of the fault

Follow a logical route, hmm... this is not always the case; I was doing this and going from socket to socket and got the rise in resistance logically between two sockets on the same wall 2 m apart, could not find the fault, then eventually took up the floor and found the ring went from one socket off to the end of the house, round the kitchen, upstairs, into the loft, back to the kitchen opposite wall through three more sockets and eventually back down to the other socket!
Obvious really when you (fail to) think about it.

Upon finding nothing you should of thought 'maybe thats not the cable route' and followed the "non-logical" route :)

Follow this lack of logic!

Someones had a right laugh throwing that ring in! And i fully agree with you anyway pal. Worst is fault finding when alterations have been made on a ring main and you end up with sockets going from one room to the next, back downstairs, upstairs etc etc.
The joys of our job i guess!
