Strange test results - advice requested

nope. he's tried another tester, also replacement cable read fine, presumably with his same meter.

.....The cable was free enough to pull a replacement cable through - which we did. Reconnected the new cable and the fault cleared. No sign of damage or moisture on the replaced cable - and it also now tests clear.....

Must have been some kind of containment ingress in the cable. Maybe the crate it arrived in fell off the dockside into the sea as it was being unloaded from the boat

Was the original cable soapy and moist

Readings over the whole site seem to have improved slightly, although it is difficult to tell. I'm convinced that it isn't moisture - everywhere is so dry and most circuits are testing perfect.
