Strange Zs

Hi guys im new to this forum ive got a high zs on one socket on a ring ,end to end resistance on p.n.and cpc ok any ideas what causes this

Could be your test lead, the pins of the socket outlet have become loose (if it's an old one), contacts within the socket are dirty etc etc

Was it a twin socket????? did you test both sides???

What were your Ze and R1+R2 readings???

Exactly what I was thinking Lenny, cheap duff socket???? Work a plug in and out a few times, work the switch a few times and retest!

Or if not that high its a spur!

How high was high?

Is the socket protected by an RCD and you're measuring Zs on a no-trip setting?
If so, this can give spurious results.
I prefer to note the calculated values using Ze+(R1+R2).

EDIT - Sorry, I see it's related to one socket only. That's what you get with reading a forum on a mobile with your daughter on your knee whilst waiting to be seated for a carvery!

measured zs at socket 2.6 max allowed on NAPIT sheet 1.15

Oh it was good but I think I overdid it with the apple crumble and custard

Disconnect the socket and use your 3 lead set up, if it is the accessory this will tell you

Or take a Zs measurement directly at the socket terminals.
