Hi all,
been doing some testing on my house to get some practice, whilst doing an IR test on a ring circuit 2.5mm t&e i get >299M LN, >299M NE, when i test LE the reading starts at 5M, leave the test running and the reading continues to grow, went upto 50M before i stopped the test:confused:.
R1 end to end 0.58 ohm,Rn end to end 0.6 ohm, and R2 end to end 1 ohm.
i have found a section of cable which is causing the low reading and will change as soon as.

What would cause the test reading to continue to get higher the longer you leave the test running?

thanks all

generally speaking damp could cause a reading like this
is this possible in your house?
remember the reading is well over the minimum so if it is a load of grief to replace the cable in question its fine to leave it

Its an upstairs ring circuit, would not expect any damp and no signs of any.It means emtying a bedroom to get the boards up to replace the cable:(.not sure what to do

thanks for the quick reply
