Strangest,Funniest or most amazing things you found while working in somebody's house

I'm re-wiring a old house at the moment that was built back in the 1800's
I was lifting some of the floor-boards when i found a newspaper wedged in between the joices...The date on it was June 26th 1947
It was still in decent condition,It was funny reading about what was in the news back then!
In the same house while lifting floorboards in another part of the house I found a early intercom system! Basically it was a system where the owner of the house would have flipped a switch of some sort and down in the servants quarters a bell would have rang,It was all done mechanical i would persume as it was all done in a steel wire..It was still in perfect condition too.

I remember another time I was doing work in a house for a old school teacher of mine..
She was a real straight laced sort of woman,she was very religious and would never be seen in a pub or anything like that and you always got the impression she thought she was better than you..Her husband was the same
Anyways there I was working away up in the attic connecting a joint box when what did i see beside me only a stash of porno's!
They had no kids so it had to be theirs...You would never think from the way they acted in the outside world that they be into that sort of stuff

fitting shower in neighbours house,moved a cupboard and off the top rolled the MOTHER of all dildos to a thud on the floor.she just looked at me and said " well, @@@@@ aint around all the time.......

Dildos? Pah! Commonplace. I once found an inflatable doll stuffed inside a cylinder cupboard. The poor bloke who owned it didn't realise I'd have to go in the cupboard to wire and plumb his shower.

found a carrier bag full of wead up a loft once just inside the loft hatch,when i worked on the council dildos where your starter for ten,every chav ----- in worcester had at least one as big as a flask.ha

What did you do with the bag PaulM?

Found a Dr's bill dated 1940's for £8 last week. Pretty expensive back then I imagine.
Also found a really old battery, will take a pic and a note of the brand (British). Pretty lame I know but only been working 3 weeks.

Got a phone number off a Phillipino Au Pair today. Does that count?

Found a classic 1970's ---- mag recently in a loft. Mostly about the new Ford Escort, plus one bint with no bra on somewhere on page 73.

once found a rat trap under floorboards of an old farmhouse, was like a mousetrap but 20 times bigger, and it was set, fortunately it was so rusty it didnt go off as i dragged it from under the floor.

Also once saw a home made joint box under floor, 4 plasterboard nails with cables wrapped round them then hammered into joist, good job i had isolated first.

Extending ringmain downstairs, testing & gets a low IR nips upstairs sure enough 2x bedrooms on same circuit, nothing untoward in bedroom 1 but bedroom 2 was set up like a mini dungeon ...I kid you not...there was a leather chair thing hanging from the celing with cuffs fixed to it, the ever ready rampant rabbit & a couple of whips on the dresser.
We thought the bird was a bit of a go'er as the washing line was decked out with some real lacey next to no material underware.

Hubby comes home & see's we've been up stairs & is like " you've seen the games room then" so we politely ...like you do ask what the hanging chair things for "handsfree floating no strain sex" , apparently they frequent the erotica show in London & buy a toy every year.

The lady of the house was a spit of wendy james of transvision vamp...nice ..oh very nice.

Putting additional downlighters in a big room in an early '70s house recently, cut the holes and pushed rods across ceiling but they fouled on something. Bit of investigation, pushed again, obstacle appeared to be moving as pushed by rods.

After a bit of shoving an old MK accesories box appeared at next hole.

Contained 1972 local paper wrapping a turd!!!

On site toilets? What?

Found an old servants com system amazing stuff in lath and plaster walls tiny brass joints with wire run in copper tubes all over the gaff. We were putting in the 21st Century version.
