[ElectriciansForums.net] Stripping Alarm Cable (cable core keeps breaking)lost me side cutters and been using these bad boys ever since, after finding me side cutters i still find meself useing these, sharp as no pressure needed to cut most cables, and plus there onlyÂŁ13
 
I do alot of alarm work and i find i never have problems stripping the cable, howrver my apprentice still cant seem to get it,, so i gabe him my fiber o poo tkc strippet (part of fiber optic set) and he says they work like magic.
 
They'll bring a special tool out at this rate. Penknife, cutters, whatever, can't see a problem.
 
one method ive used was to warm the insulation gently with soldering iron or bic lighter (not enough to catch it ablaze)
and strip with fingers ((gloved of course))
doesnt nick the wire at all

same principle as using a thermal stripper
