Sub-contract or employ

Firstly a quick intro as this is my first post. Im a partner for a company called Astroenergy (www.astroenergy.co.uk) and have been acting within the wholesale PV sector for the past year or so and are based within Northampton, Midlands.

We've recently become MCS approved for installs and would be interested to hear peoples views on whether to employ people or use on a sub contract basis? Would be interesting to understand if there are many solar PV installers looking for sub-contract work or do they all generally go down the MCS route and install for themselves?

In your position I'd start by subbing until you can see whether there's enough market to justify employing staff, then if you do decide to employ you can start by ffering jobs to the subbies you've come to know and trust.
