hi all, advice needed.

I am quoting for a wire of a new house, much needed work.

advice is about sub main to new dwelling, they want seperate meter to supply new dwelling,so in theory just one bill and calculate usage of new build.
thinking of splitting existing tails and installing an isolator to feed new build using swa, they want 2 showers,2 rings,1 cooker, 2 lights, smokes. any advice greatly appricated. or just walk away from job ?

depends on current draw from first building. if it's a 100 amp main fuse and the current draw is 60amps plus then forget it: if the 2 showers are switched on in the new build and the old build has an average current draw, at that point it could blow the main fuse. It's not good practice to put that much loading to a seperate house/building off the existing house. the only appropriate way is for supplier to put a new feed to new building. (thats my opinion anyway)

you could always give them a option to install it all and offer not to connect it in mains and note down on cert. that it was not connected and let the builder work his magic as they do then when u get the phone call 'everythings gone off' go round say main fuse gone get dno in and while ya at it get a second supply

I'm currently undertaking a PIR on 5 bedroom house. It has a submain feeding a garage with washing machine and tumble dryer in it. The tails have also been split to feed a large 3 bedroom holiday cottage as well. All this from a 100 amp main fuse. They have a seperate 2 phase supply to provide power to heat the swimming pool.

yea very true, can only do the dead tests though. i spoke to the builder yesterday, well he phoned me and asked how much the quote was,he tried telling me how much it was!nitemare. i told him he needs another supply,he will talk to the customer.i expect he will get some other spark to do it,or himself.

You would treat it as a TT installation.
