Hi guys

Been a sparky for 10 years now with various companies current company is a lot of London work so long travel but the work is very good (super mansions in Chelsea) however I have just had a child and want more flexibility and less traveling times plus wife isn't working so more money would be useful also.

Have seen quite a few adverts for a company called ranstad the pay looks great with 12 month contacts on offer (similar to agency) + closer to home. Has anyone been in same situation, and seemingly taken the jump into subbying/self employed? As I'm sure there has and would like to know best way about it.

Thank you

research this company before taking the plunge. some of these are just middlemen who get work at extortionate prices then pay you a fraction, usually months late after you've chased them.

Randstad is just an agency fyi.

Have you factored in all your costs - missing a months pay (holiday), paying out for travel, self assessment, accountancy, tools, test equipment, Calibration, insurance, that if you have an circumstances at home which force you to say you can't come in, they will just sack you off. Cis deductions, clothing...I could probably go on and on
