Electric Eales

Hi All,
Been asker to run a submain 100m metres from origin to a shed. This shed will have a 7.5kw shower, 6kw oven, 2 x 3kw water heaters as well as general power and lighting(not much about 12 lights & 12 twin sockets)
Not sure if running 3 phase supply would make more sense? Financially and size of cable for glanding etc. Any thoughts?

Thanks

if the golf club has a 3 phase supply then a submains to the grounds keepers hut is feasable.
applying diversity realistically its unlikely to draw more than 40A continuous.
still though biff....thats virtually a 2 bed house....
what are they doing...living in this shed or what?
i mean 12 points, 6KW cooker...chuffin showers...
next it`l be ikea beds going in....

You're all being beastly.... I think that the least any good groundsman deserves is fully heated accomodation, range style electric cooker, nice hot shower plus enough sockets to power exercise machines, hifi equipment, widescreen TV's, a coffee machine, and leather reclining layzeeboy chairs...

[a dozen Polish/Latvians/Romanians will be moving in] that may be closer to the truth than realised...lol...
I come from Guernsey, where this is quite normal. Mostly greenhouse packing sheds. Some time ago there was a fire at a greenhouse site and loads of people were seen in their pajamas fleeing clutching duvets.

aye and its despicable...
my concerns are what happens when the floodgates open again to Mr. bulgaria et al?
because we`v got to meet `EU quota`s`
they will all be `sparkys` or `plumbers` or summat you mark my words.....
its gonna be hell....

Even if they aren't, it'll only take them 17 day's or so, to become registered with a welcoming scheme provider!! lol!!

Had meeting today and 6Kw cooker scrapped now! aparantly they can live with a microwave, hard life eh.
Still shower, but then just a few sockets, lights and a 3Kw water heater. The existing supply we are coming off is a single phase supply, but with nothing on it just the meter there so with a big enough cable (prob 25mm) should be ok.
Thanks all for your input :)

from your posts it seems like you are simply guessing the cable your are going to require ??

do some cable calcs or this could end up being a very costly job ! :hammer:

agreed.
you need an Ib first , youre not going any further without a design current.
then you can choose a cable that will give you less than 6.9v volt drop over the 100mtrs ,
which you will to need to achieve to get the lighting operating properly
