Why do submarines have no earth, yet normal ships do?

is it because a ship has an anchor?? means of earthing as a conductor?

where a submarine could be classed as a non conducting location??

not sure how good a conductor seawater is, but apparently freshwater isn't a very good conductor & it is only the impurities in the water that conduct???

Where did you get this info from subs do have an earth like ships it's called the hull

dont have a clue? though was thinking about the anchor idea, but then though if a sub bottoms out like in films when hiding from depth charges and such surely they are then earthed?

Ships and subs I have worked on are 3 phase 3 wire (No neutral) systems with the star point of the generators connected to the hull.

I am guessing that sea water is not a good conductor
I believe it is used as the dialectric for the "help me" battery when the pilots ditch their planes in the sea

Is it anything to do with helicopters landing on ships, and not on submarines?

I think a lot of static builds up on choppers, and will discharge when it makes contact with a ship.
