'Ang on a minute aren't subs bloody DC like a car? They must be working off of batteries they have a no earth system.


As the Royal Navy does not have any diesel electric boats anymore only nuclear then the answer is no, when they did it was only the main engine which was DC rest of the electrics where AC;);)

Cars are both AC/DC as does a car not have an alternator which is AC which is then converted to DC with the negative side of the battery connected to the car body which is known as a negative earth;);)
