Hello all... Here is my problem!
I'll give you a little bit of background first, sorry if it gets waffly!
I came into the electrical industry while I was studying for my HNC in engineering (electrical pathway), as the company I was working for as an electronics engineer paid terrible and when I was given the name and number of a fella who could pay me twice as much in the inspection and testing game I jumped at the chance. Not having any experience really of electrical work, I learnt on the job doing new installation testing of various offices and hotels around the M25 area, and within a year it appeared that I knew a lot more about the job than my boss did, as I have a thirst for knowledge and I am constantly researching and checking places like this for more information. I worked for him for two years, and got my HNC completed, plus 2381 and 2391 also done.
I've now worked for another company for 4 years, carrying out PIR's for properties ranging from loads of housing association properties in Sussex, to the Museum of Wales in Cardiff, so I have some experience range. I've also done one off installations and remedial works along the way, as the client needed, but never installation work for months on end. Recently I also successfully got my Qualifying Supervisor status from the NIC, which was nice.
So the problem, I'm now about to be made redundant , and I have such a random set off incomplete qualifications I don't know which way to go.... Do I do the 2330 at college? Although I think that if I had to sit with a bunch of kids learning Ohm's law again I may just go mad... Do I try to get a JIB card with employers recommendations, just to try to get my QS position on something hard, although time is running out on that front.
I just don't know where to turn, I have a HNC in Engineering (electrical), 2381, 2382, 2391, QS, 6 years of experience.... What would you do?!?
Thanks in advance, and yes I know, it was waffly....
