Suitable cable for outside light?

What's the best type of cable to used for an outside light where the cable is going to be exposed for about 4-5 meters where it drops vertically to the light? They suggested a type of flex to me in CEF today, can't for the life of me remember the type but it was black with a rubbery kind of sheath. I'd like something suitable to all kinds of weather.

lol what a comeback you are so funny :D

no seriously , the fact you cant decide what cable to use for a outside light splits my sides with laughter,
plus my user name is glasgos PARK not glasgo spark

I can decide alright, just checking others views. Some cable's are going to last better than others so wanted to gather opinion.

longer than a bit of flat twin....lol...
I agree and would never use twin myself...but there are thousands of installs out there with twin exposed and have been fine for decades.

Suppose it depends on the install its self...but yer black 3core flex OP and like glenn said make sure you enter at the bottom to stop water getting in...dont compromise the IP rating as they say...

...take a look up at outside fittings that have been there a while....you will notice how many are fed with grey flat twin.....check out how discoloured it is....can get brittle as well....it dont like UV light dont flat twin...
so do as i suggested and choose a 3 core black flex will you....

My outside light is done in white T&E and not even clipped, and is perfectly fine. Probably only seen a couple of hours sun in its 15 year life though. Good old British weather....
