Hi
I'm an electrician who has done the C&G 2372 and am starting to put together a PV installation for my MCS. Needless to say, despite the 2372 which was about passing an exam rather than any form of learning, i have gaps in my knowledge which i am trying to fill.

My question is about the max DC power input. The tech data states 4040W is this total for the SB 3800 or total per sting (max 3)?

Also, i have a copy of a PV design check list from a safety management system. i am about 75% clear on what info it is asking for based of n the module spec etc. Other than my limited course notes is there any where on the web or have books that anyone can recommend to help me out?

i have bought 'Solar Electricity handbook' by Michael Boxwell which should be with me this week. Anyone have it? any good?

Thanks

Who did you do your course with, fella?

I did mine with the NICEIC at Dunstable and I have the same opinion as you. It was simply set up to get me through 40 multiple choice questions. Very little of any practical benefit was taught.

download sunny design from the sma website

SUNNY DESIGN. SMA Solar Technology AG <<<< link for you

input what modules you are using and how many then this programme will tell you what inverter will be best for the system! great piece of software i use alot, fronius also do a similar one btw

The 3800 inverter is a big beast for a first install, I think the maximum dc power input is for the total array but as mentioned always use the SMA design tool as its a very good system check.
