I have to set up sunny portal for a customer at the weekend.
I have never used it and lat I heard you needed a sunny webox, is this still the case?
Or can you simply get a Bluetooth dongle in the PC and detect the inverter?
any help appreciated
You can access via a Bluetooth dongle in the PC, I think it has to be a class 1 Bluetooth from memory, as long as you remember to set up the Bluetooth on the inverter it should be fine. You may have to have the PC next to the inverter to do the initial set up.
Hope that helps
John
AIUI Sunny Portal is a centralised data logging system run by SMA. It would seem that the only way to upload data to it is either a Sunny Webbox or a power reducer box (whatever that may be!).
There is also the Webconnect card which appears to be less than a 1/4 of the coat of a Bluetooth Webbox. However, it can only be fitted to the newer TL inverters (-21s for the most part). WEBCONNECT. SMA UK
Yep, you need either a webbox - we ONLY install the Rs485 versions as they are more reliable - you don't need a bluetooth dongle, the inverters have bluetooth built in to them the webbox bluetooth version also has it built in. SUNNY WEBBOX SUNNY WEBBOX with Bluetooth
Or a Sunny Home Manager for a single inverter set up it is a cheaper option than the webbox (uses bluetooth) SUNNY HOME MANAGER
For a domestic customer I would use the Home Manager, for a commercial client the Webbox.

That looks like a much better option for the price, as long as its not too difficult to wire the data cable to the router! I suppose powrline adaptors could be used also.
