Supply for Moov b300 electric gates

Hello all,

I am currently installing some outside lights, but the customer has asked my advice about moov b300 electric gate openers. I am not fitting them as i have never done them. Do these gates need there own designated supply. The reason is that he has no spare ways on his fuseboard in the garage. I believe that the gate motors draw 400w(from the very vague instruction manual and I can not find any clarification in the brb. If the answer is yes then i want to inform him that he needs to discuss a board change with the future installation of gates in mind,

Many thanks

Did the vague instruction manual request a dedicated supply? As the manufacturers instructions should be taken as in reg 134.1.1. So if they do then yes they need a dedicated supply. The technical data should though give you a prefered type of protection device and may want a C type MCB for any in-rush currents, again have a look at the manual.

If it does require a dedicated circuit then there is no reason to upgrade to a bigger CU if that is cost prohibitive. You could Henly block the main tails from the meter going into the CU and fit a small RCBO enclosure with double pole switch just for the gates.
