Hi guys, when you come across a 100A supply fuse with 16mm tails how do u code it ? Read threads saying that if it is adequate for the load and by using the adibiatic equation we can prove earth is adequate to clear fault what would you do ? Is it a straight case of current carrying capacity < fuse so fail ! Or is there more to it ? What code for 6mm bonding 16mm earth ?? . What sizes were used under previous editions pre 16th ?? And how does this fit in ?

and just because it says 100A on the fuse holder, don't mean it's a 100A fuse inside. DNO is not ronseal.

6mm and 16mm would be a code 2 as I don't believe u can use the equation on the bonding. But what if the earthing conductor was oversized in the first place and could be 10mm. The main fuse is a different story, firstly we can't cut the seal so can't confirm fuse size ? If we could confirm 60A and it was a small board where the loads were protected by the OCD and the total load couldn't exceed the capacity of the 16mm ??. I don't know

Thanks Julian , I'm pretty sure that's the article I had read. So to summarise 16mm 10mm earth would be fine on most installations with 100A fuse providing the conditions stated are met. Thinking the 6mm bonding could be a code 3 actually depends , what if it was installed at an earlier edition then the tails were changed later but not the bonding ?
