Hi all,

What do any of you think of this domestic supply?

Wor kid wants more sockets added to his bedroom but his CU is not RCD protected, a friend who is also a electrician advised to get a new CU fitted with protection.

But I would rather wor kid contact his supplier and get an isolator fitted between meter and CU, but it will take too long he say and wants it done asap.

Whet do you all think?

It could be a TNC-S system that needed to be PME'd as the lead sheaths were breaking down on the system. But that to me doesn't look like a DNO install, i doubt very much if they would use screw clamps and a bit of cut off earth clamp tape to bridge the 2 cables.

Check with the neighbours installs, see what earthing system they have. If yours is PME'd then they will all be!!!

I presume that the sticker (when it was there) proves that its a legitimate conversion and as you can see its been been torn off to access the seal to the main switch to do some sort of work with the main switch but its hard to tell how long ago it was.

Trev1: Would you advise to get a isolator fitted between meter and CU and at the same time Q NEDL about the conversion?

And what if they are not, whats the next course of action? Obviosly contact the DNO?

I contacted my supplier today and they quoted me ÂŁ35 to install a isolater, Then I contacted Network Operations at CE Electric, they transfered me to the deparment that deals with Isolators and they quoted me ÂŁ101

Also use a tails gland and clamp if available and make sure tails are secured to a wall. The danger here is a live to earth fault in the Consumer Unit
