Hi Guys, I'm pretty new to the electrical scene but I have completed my Part P and 17th Edition but at the same time I really don't want to make any silly mistakes!! Hence my ppossibly silly question.
I've been asked to install a new kitchen ring mains as the previous owner used 1.5mm cable and the periodic has coded it as 1. As the customer is a pensioner and also disabled he is unable to move his vast amounts of furniture around to accomodate lifting the floor boards above the kitchen (kitchen floor is concrete). He's asked me to surface mount in truncking the new circuit which I'm happy to do and will do so in the prescribed areas so that when he decorates he wants me to bury the cables(circuit is also RCD protected) however to run the new cable from the CU to the kitchen he has suggested running it on the outside of the property in round plastic conduit(so can't be exposed), is this allowed? or is there a better method that the more experienced (probabaly all of you!) sparkies would employ in this situation?

Thanks in advance

You can surface mount T&E outside as long as it is not exposed to continuous sunlight or the likelyhood of mechanical damage. Certainly you could put it in plastic conduit or you could even do the external section in Hi-tuff or swa (as long as you follow the regs for that).
More of a problem could be ensuring that you have sufficient slack cable in the trunking to allow you to bury it at a later date.
