Surge protection

Hello,
I need to install surge protection to a new installation. The consumer unit will be a 12 way 17th edition board. I have never had any experience with surge protectors so was hoping with all your knowledge you can enlighten me...............:bulb2:Cheers

Why do you require surge protection? Is it a high lightning strike area? Is the supply prone to surges or spikes? What is the equipment that needs protecting.

Hi, They require surge protection as the house has been hit by lightning previously. A lighning protection system will be installed by an specialised lightning contractor. Thanks

As Richy says I'd speak to your wholesaler about a Class I&II surge arrestor kit. They're very simple to install technically speaking but the logistics of finding room for surge arrestors might require a separate enclosure to be installed at the CU.
