Surge Protection

Chaps,
I'm looking at a property that will be needing a re wire if I buy it.
I am thinking of making it future proof and so getting surge protection for the new board that will be going in.
I am aware that it is not essential at the moment but with the talk of insurance companies bringing it in I thought I would try and cover myself for the future.
Can anyone recommend a domestic unit, make model etc and where I could get one from? Costs etc.

If you're rewiring from scratch it would be worth looking at running a dedicated clean circuit for your computers and other IT equipment. Surge protection is something you should be able to add to the CU later as a retrofit or you can use piggy-back type protectors at the appliances where it's required.

was at elex the other week. 1 stand was demo'ing surge protection fitted in CU. can't rem. who it was though. might hae been BG.

Waste of time without failure indication.

Then only if you’re in a rural environment with OH lines.

Hi defo worth fitting try surge protection devices they do one which fits into mains unit and protects the whole house for £46.00, your computors /tv/ appliances etc etc well worth the money
