Following fitting of an isolation switch by DNO, I will run tails into click/mem/kmf fused switch and then SWA cable to new consumer unit which is now approx 15m away.

I intend to run 2 core SWA and a seperate earth.

1.) If the max demand of the CSU is greater than 60A, does the SWA have to be 25mm with 80A fuse in the KMF switch. I know 16mm SWA would be ok with 60A fuse in kmf switch but is the max demand too much to allow that.

2) What is best method for terminating SWA into KMF switch and Consumer unit (all plastic)

I would personally put in 25mm 3 core regardless just to future proof it and put in metal clad accessories like the Wylex switched fuses and suitable metal clad CU. If you still want to use insulated accessories you will need to terminate the SWA into metal adaptable boxes at either end of the run then take the separated cores into the switched fuse and CU .

Thanks pennywise,
Thought that method would be best, but working with the 25mm SWA 3 core would be a first for me so was looking for anything to make it a little easier.
So looks like I'll go for that.
Assume as metal clad - no need to use earth lug on gland set at either end?

I would put banjos both ends nut and bolt them to the enclosures and take a fly lead off to the earth bars best practice :D

As for the 25mm you've got to start somewhere so you might as well use it as a starting point :D

That all sounds Ok, but for the extra few quid i would be taking pennywise's solution;)

Ok cheers. Could use a 16mm fly lead earth but what about the 3rd core from cable - 25mm - will that fit in the earth bar??

I've always been able to fit them into the bar, it may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, there lies the reason for using metal clad boards, if you find it doesn't fit, lug it and nut and bolt it to the enclosure. I usually put in a smaller fly lead if the armoring isn't going to be used as the main earthing conductor say 10mm.
