Hi customer wants swa run along fence but not buried - fence not usable so idea is to bury posts and attach swa to this . Any body got any good tips on what they've used to achieve a good result.

Sorry for poor typing it's from a phone

Regards
Pete

I will one day install electricity to my garage which is at the bottom of my garden and because I don't want the aggravation of digging a trench or have a fence to clip to (I have a hedge) I shall be driving posts into the ground about 2 feet high and 4 feet apart. I shall secure a wooden rail between these posts and clip my SWA to that with clips at the appropriate spacing.

That said, if the cable is above ground and visible, do I really need to use SWA ???

i think burying armoured is a real pain , try to cleat/tie wrap to the fence, or as suggested posts/angle iron uprights maybye
now--whether to export the earth or not--------h,mmmm

you have a hedge? cable tie the bugger to the hedge. why spend money on posts which can be better spent on ale?

That's about as ruff as my old Estonian socks.... but probably good for hanging the Xmax lights on.

Personally, and seriously, I wouldn't bury SWA, unless it was a sub-main. Most SWAs used for garden lighting and sockets are usually a maximum of 2.5mm2 and can be carved up like butter with a spade.
So you either go deep or leave it on the surface. My preference, in this case would be to attach it to stakes, as the previous poster stated.

I assume said contractor is part of a Part P scheme (NICEIC, Napit, few others..) in which case complain to them. They'll investigate (in theory)...
