Swa cleats, what way is up?

Silly one I know, but what way do you chaps fix your swa cleats? For say a horizontal run, do you favour the screw being on top or underneath? Just out of interest really

Underneath supporting the weight of the cable for me. Got told to do it that way, same as cable clips...

I've been taught underneath to support the weight too, makes sense really. On vertical runs then I tend to oppose the clips to make it less likely to be pulled out, look funky and more balanced (symmetry is important to me, I'm special).

I was taught clips support cleats hang. cleats sort of want to hang with the screw above cable

Cable tie is a bit high tech isn't it? What is wrong with just bending the nail over? :lol:

We never had bent nails, we just used to drag kids off the street and get them to hold the cable up :devil2:

dasmn, never thought of that. better still, just bang the nail through between the armour and the inner sheath. multi-point earrthing.

The cables hangs better if screw is above, more so with larger cable sizes

I normally screw above, but if it is tight against the ceiling i put them the other way so that the cable sits neat.

Screws on top. The cleat is designed to support the cable weight.

As Jason said, tight to the ceiling then I put the screw on the bottom.
