Always put them screw to bottom to help support the cable. What distance do you put your cleats apart? I put them 300mm looks very neat.

SWA clips, P clips etc I mount them 'screw up' because the cable seems to dangle off them better and isn't going to fall out because it's a 'closed' clip. Flat T&E clips I'd probably put 'nails down' so the cable can't fall out.
That is unless it's more convenient to fix them the other way up.

Silly one I know, but what way do you chaps fix your swa cleats? For say a horizontal run, do you favour the screw being on top or underneath? Just out of interest really

SWA cable cleats are designed as a horizontal hanging support, so fixings should be at the top... With the cleats turned and fixed at the bottom, you generally find that over a short time, the weight of the cable pulls the up-right cleat flats away from the wall. The bigger and heavier the cable, the more pronounced this affect will be. The more experienced here will know this, by past experience of seeing this happen for themselves. ...lol!! It doesn't matter a jot what side of the cable is being used for fixing vertical runs of SWA cable...

Perhaps if these tutors, as well as others, should contact the manufacturers before teaching or giving students duff information!! lol!!
