edit: from your description the SWA is running under a layer of insulation that is in excess of 100mm deep?

Why not run a wooden rail above the insulation and clip it to that.

ok so if i put 16mm onto cable tray above insulation current capacity goes up to 94a. would we all agree this is adequate?

more tah adequate. from a job i did last month, 10mm XLPE clipped direct is rated 81A so 16mm should fly it above insulation
