Morning

Its been a while since I last terminated SWA and have come up against a problem.

I have prepared the cable, and got to the point of installing the gland, my problem is I cant get the cone body part and clamping collars to screw together, thread wont bite.

The parts are fine when the not attached on cable, this is obviously something simple I have forgot. Could the length of steel being clamped be too short.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Paul

Lots of rubbish glands out there, loads of internal ones dont have the clamping ring......ditch the gland you have and get an external one as they tend to have the clamping ring/olive and are much easier to fit

Also, check that you have the clamping ring round the right way. Take the gland apart and look.

Thanks for this, I assumed after watching on Learning Lounge that all clamping rings were universal, I checked it and there is definitely a way round to put it.

Fits like a dream now, what do they say about assumption being the mother of all f*** ups.

Cheers

the armouring isn,t going too far up inside the gland is it? try pulling it back about 5mm,had this myself once or twice.

I'm with Phil on this, I think you're pushing the bared armouring up too far into the gland and it's stopping the cone engaging with the thread on the body.

EDIT:
Ok, not that then... Doh. Glad you got it sorted though. It's times like that when you can think yourself going mad.
