Morning

Its been a while since I last terminated SWA and have come up against a problem.

I have prepared the cable, and got to the point of installing the gland, my problem is I cant get the cone body part and clamping collars to screw together, thread wont bite.

The parts are fine when the not attached on cable, this is obviously something simple I have forgot. Could the length of steel being clamped be too short.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Paul

On some glands I don't think it matters which way the olive is but some it does. When I take a gland apart I ensure that the olive goes on the same way as it came apart. I have seen a few numpties just throw the olives away thinking they didn't need it!

If it's not the olive, and uve checked ure strands aren't to long - then to be honest, its probably just use mate. As an apprentice i did hundreds of these, and i remember getting so frustrated not being able to get them to bite - you've obviouslly gotta make sure the gland is completley square, and not trying to thread it on even a slight angle. Sometimes one of the strands can kink over abit and cause a problem.

As said, check olive and that strands aren't stupidly long. (if you take it apart, rememeber not to take the shroud off - its gutting when you've finally got it on without the shroud)

Think its probably just use though buddy as uve not done it ina while - as with a few things, take ure time and it'll happen :) Hope you get it sorted.

We've had some crap glands recently. Even when we've ordered the SWA and glands together from the same company (rhymes with MATT) sometimes they have just refused to go on. We've even resorted to putting CW50 glands on instead if CW40!

Lots of equipment now seems to be made with less and less raw material and as a consequence there's a lot of crap out there.

And if all else fails, do it like this :D
