Hi,

Im hearing contridicting info on this.

When i was in college my tutor told me if SWA was used in a way as it was 3 core and one the cable was the earth then the SWA only needs earth glanding and fly cable on one side of the terminated SWA. But ive seen a couple PIRs pick this up as a fault as needing amended to earthed with fly cable both sides.

which is correct?

Obv it cant never hurt to do both sides, but does one side in this case meet regulations?

What exactly was the observation on the report?
Was it the lack of a proper gland or the lack of an earth connection? You didn't make that clear in the OP

yeah exactly what i thought.

Maybe it only been picked up on PIRs i seen then as they just over looked it.

lack of earth gland and fly cable but on attendance it was only one side that lacked it

I worked in a factory and the armoring's in every cable was used for earth (which I totally disagree with the glanding is appalling) and flyings on both ends which I would do no matter what, If it was cpc or not.

Why?? Depending on the size and number of cores, the armouring meets all the requirements as that circuits CPC. The only time the armouring won't comply (in most cases) is if it is also going to be used for main bonding purposes.... So there's nothing to really disagree with here!!

The glanding is so bad armourings are above the gland on CWs, if your going to do it your glanding as to be the best, I've even saw shrouds cut and taped at the back.

As rough as it looks and is the fact that the shroud is damaged is not going to affect the armour functioning as a cpc.

As for the armour being exposed outside of a CW gland, well that is just wrong and the termination is compromised whatever is being used as the cpc.

My point is if your willing to gland that badly what else have you bypassed done badly

I was querying your statement above, not the state of the terminations that you found...
