an outbuilding is supplied by a 50mm twin SWA cable from a PME supply

The assessor has told me to convert to a TT as the steel csa is too small, is there a way I can prove that surely a 50mm twin swa sheath is suitable to be a 16mm earth?

Hi - looking in GN8 tables B 1, 2 or 3 it has 50mm swa with steel of 68 (2 core), 78 (3 core) or 90 (4 core). For bonding it's the ratio of resistivity which is about 8. This means the steel armour is worth about 8.5, 9.75 or 11.25 mm2 of copper. The incoming DNO neutral may be bigger than 50, but even 50 needs 16mm (Table 54.8).

Keeps me entertained every few weeks theres just like 3 posts from pete with links to a file on his desktop that nobody can obviously access then he eventually figures it out..... Then forgets for next time :D

Leave him alone...you may need to know how to replenish a Le Clanche Jar,one day,and he'll not help you...;)

Old age mate you will get there one day if your lucky, I did try though, not going bother anymore if this round of pee taking is anything to go by, so you can all go jump in the river, I'll have you know I have a vast array of information in my resources file, all of which I will now keep to myself, mainly because I can't recall how to send them on this confounded computer thingamajig, so there, I'm off to sulk for a bit, see you later maybe.:tongue::p:D:rolleyes::)

Why would the RCD fail … yes it can happen but then it may not. Without it you have no protection on the TT System
