SWA............ where does this have to be used?

how do you install this?.....glanding etc

how do you earth it?

do you go straight into the board with this?

Swa is for use when excessive damage or strain to the cable is likely. It us usually found outdoor or in industrial and commercial premises.it is installed as you said using glands. Some DB's can incorporate swa whilst others can't so a boxes that do incorporate them need to be used then a smaller cable (usually twin & earth) needs to be taken from junction box to db. If you use 2 core you use the metal sheathing as the earth. If you use 3 core you use 1 core and the sheathing

just with a local spark, the collage dosnt start untill september and only on a site at the moment basically making tea and sweeping up, so all i have is a few text books i have been reading to try get a bit of a idea before i start properly.

think you will learn far more by reading posts on this forum than from any book ( BS7671 aside ). that and progressing frm sweeping up to doing actual installation ( under supervision ) and let the college teach you the theory.
