swapping alarm panel battery

So this 2.1 be ok for about 4 hours.

Whilst its new....but 4 hours or less is not very good, and thats not including any pirs you have installed on the system.
Pyronics Sterling 10 recommend 7ah standard with 2.8 a/h being minimum

As tazz has pointed out "Looking at sterling 10 manual battery requirements 2.8a/h - 7.2a/h". Do a propper job and get the correct size.

What type of alarm would a 2.1ah be good in... A house full of door contacts and a dummy bell box

some of the smaller "domestic" panels will only fit a 2.1AH. that size is fine for small installations.

Most small domestic panels draw abaut 80-100mA in standby, so do the maths without pirs etc, your looking abaut 21 hour on a 2.1ah battery, with a few pirs and siren unit, around 18 hours. Once you start using commercial panels like the Sterling...you have lcd keypads, 250mA speakers, and multiple outputs. Bit more current thirsty. Most professional fitters will calculate or measure the standby current to ensure the correct battery is installed.
