OneZ

Greetings,

In my friend's house they have three different power sources:
Main
Generator
Inverter + Batteries

There is already a switch that does the following: in position 1 it make lights work on Main, on position 2 it makes light works on Generator. Can someone explain how is this switch connected with wires ?
How can I make/convert this switch to include the third power source ?

Thanks.....

Hi,when you say "house", do you mean "barge"? Thats the only scenario i have encountered the three in harmony. Is the third system installed? What is being used at present? Cheers

Aaaaa, OneZ,i see your other question regarding test screwdriver and respectfully request to be released from your R&D commitee.....:mickey:

We live in Syria, u should have heard about it, we are poor, and voltage test screwdriver is a good option.
Electricity goes down here for up to 16 hours a day, so having this kind of additional power sources seems logical.
Really shocked of the kind of comments I've received so far.
Thanks anyway.....

Hi OneZ , the only i can think of doing what you after is to install another change over switch in line with one of the existing inputs on the change over switch that you already have .

Yes we install that kind of scenario at work - everything is fed off the batteries (sockets via inverter) which take their power from an inverter which is fed by either a generator or shore power connection.
I couldn't tell you how it works though - some kind of electrical jiggery-pokery involving multicore connections between adaptable boxes full of wagos (which someone else wires off a diagram) and incorporating an LCD PLC screen which tells you how much power you're using, where it's coming from, lets you switch between sources etc.
In a building I suppose you'd need a similar kind of switch to what's used for solar PV installations.
