Discuss System installed thre weeks ago, MCS assesment on the 4th DEC ,OMG??? in the Solar PV Forum | Solar Panels Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net
Ive installed a 2.1kWh system a couple of weeks ago all good and runing fine, trouble is my assesment is on the 23rd Nov and im so worried about not passing and the client then missing the deadline for the 43p, as the cut off point looks like 8th Dec for FIT application, is there anything i can do???.
im getting worried now
also put alot of my own money in this and it looks like it going down the drain, i feel so fed up.
There's been a slight backtrack on that info, check the thread.
Also, wouldn't the FiT certificate need to be in the hands of the energy supplier before or on the 8th if that was the case?
When would the G83/1 form need sending to the DNO? After the assessment when you've been accepted and given a MCS number?
That looks like a big ask.
Are you sure your assessment is on the 4th as this will be a Sunday. As far as I am aware, a successful assessment will be processed on the following Monday so I'd make a phone call to MCS to make sure if I were you.
When we did our initial assessment it was in early October but we did not get signed up until 3 December by the time they got their act together !
We were just in the process of jumping ship from elecsa to napit for the mcs , but are holding off renewing at all for the moment !
It may be worth giving who ever you are planning to go with a call to see if they have a opening caused by a cancellation ?
Good luck , i honestly feel for you mate !
Contact a local MCS approved installer, explain the situation your in, I'm sure under the current circumstances they would give you a MCS certificate for that job. I certainly would, its all very unfair !!
Even when we passed it took a couple of weeks before we were properly through the system. We went with BRE, not sure about you.
I'd agree with Finchy, have an MCS certificate ready to go regardless of the outcome. MCS company should of course inspect, though I doubt there'd be a problem.
I think it is, section 3.3 of MIS: 3002 seems to include details about signing off someone else's installation work (under a subcontract basis). Although I'm never confident when I write things like that.
However the MCS firm assumes full responsibility for the install... Gulp.
3.3.4 The certificated Contractor assumes responsibility at handover that the installation is in full compliance with the standard.
I have been assessed for 3 technologies now and my experience with Napit is that by the time the asssessor has reported back, the assessor's assessment has been audited, the back office has done the paperwork to issue a registration number, notify Gemserve, notify you and activate your access to the website then you are generally into a full 2 weeks. You then have to log onto the Gemserve database and register your first installation, receive the certificate (by email), then fill in a FIT application correctly, attach the evidence and get it to the FIT supplier by 8 Dec. I suggest 23 Nov is too tight if thousands of pounds depend on it and I suggest you urgently find a friendly MCS installer to commission your system for you. It will not stop you using it for your assessment if you did the design work and installation etc. Whoever commissions it for you will just have to add you to their training records to comply with the scheme.
People generally do not fail. They just have a number of non-conformancies to correct!
Well i have a friend who will sort the MCS side out forme so a huge relief there.
Id like to thank all the people on here who PM’d asking me where i was located and offering help, i was amazed at the response ,thanks guys.
Now then, even if the FIT does go down to the 20p do youstill think i should go ahead with my assessment( ive paid £700 so don’t know if i cancel ill get that back), could this FIT be increased in say 2 years, oryou think i shouldn’t bother?. I assume there will be a market for optimization and health checks, but you don’t need to be MCS for any of that, just dont know what to do.
Ive spend £1000 on Pvsol £1000+ course time off work £700 Napit £200+ insurance £600 on the tools/ test stuff £100+ on website banners logos etc And hours and hours of my time.
We ordered a fancy pants website, deposit alone was £1500. I'm not cancelling it, most firms will scrape along until the spring - we can only hope the market will pick up and some funding is found to reinstate the FiT at a decent level.
