Not the little blue kind before Tel comes on

Have had a request from home to get an ipad for someone but they are far to expensive. So been looking at Vega.Tabtech, Cambridge science etc etc etc, now I'm not that computer illiterate but reading things like capacitive or resistive touchscreens, Android 3.0 honeycomb etc etc as left me thinking, I know who can help the lads on here.

So come on guys recommendations for a 150-200 pound tablet, I'm veering toward the Cambridge one

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gingerbread...1_7?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1322038594&sr=1-7

Help an old lad out here

PS what the hell is "Gingerbread"

malcolm. i know less about these gizmos than i do about brain surgery, so i can't help you . you need a lad under 12 to understand them.

As the original Betamax man I have given up recommending anything to anyone. However have a look at PCPRO.co.uk they do proper tests and make recomendations. The tablets in their best buys are more expensive than your range (Ipad 2 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1) but if their tests are online there may be something suitable as they will have tested loads of them.

For the scottish guys on the forum

Theres a lady in Aberfeldy makes the most delicious tablet sold in wee shops round perthshire ...excellent sugar hit after a long day driving .

On the IT Tablet thing personally i would rather have a full function laptop .

Pay the extra and get the iPad, competitors just wont do

Just like buying a dewalt or a nutool/performance pro, both do the same job

If they have asked for an iPad nothing else will do, and when used correctly they are a fantasic peice of equipment

Have to agree, big difference, amazing piece of kit.

If you do go for something else Malc, capacitive touchscreen is an absolute must!!

Not sure when it comes out in the UK , but the Kindle Fire tablet is said to be a very good tablet for the price, its retailing in the U.S for $199.
Just dont buy a U.S one as i dont think it will work here in the U.K.

Im juggling between waiting for this or just getting a android tablet for my son.

@ Malcolm...The gingerbread etc is just the name for the version of Android operating system.
Gingerbread was version 2.3
Then came Honeycomb 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2
The latest version to be released was Ice Cream Sandwich which i think is version 4.0.
Not sure if any tablets are running this yet though.
