Hi All,

When changing a domestic CU, I normally replace / upgrade to 25mm tails regardless of the main fuse size.

What do you guys do???, I was talking to a colleague who sticks with 16mm on a 60amp.

Answers on a postcard!!!:)

I tend to use 25mm tails on all changes. to allow for DNO fuse upgrades.

Although where I have to fit say an 80A switch fuse (due to the tails being too long) I will run 16mm if the volt drop is ok.

I nearly always fit 25mm tails.I have on one occasion left the 16mm tails in place when replacing a cu in a new flat because the position of the cu/head in a deep cupboard close to the ceiling would have caused undue strain on 25mm tails. Not to mention the strain on the paper thin walls and cupboard as I crawled in to bend the cables.
Made sure 60 amp fuse and correct Earth size.
whole exercise made me research some boards and connections and I found this'

The tail connector would have solved my problem

that seems like a good idea, what do they cost?

B&Q sell a 3m 25mm Meter tail kit (got caught-out on a Sunday and Screwfix were sold out)

Was reduced from £20 - £15, took it to the till and it was a tenner, was quite surprised.

They even stock MK 'Henly Blocks' too.
