been to lokk at a job for a new shower cu. the original tails are in what looks about 10mm entering the flat in steel conduit. if i split these with a henley what size tails should be used to the shower cu?
any help would appreciated!

the tails are probally 16mm they look smaller because they are single insullated.if the cut out is more than 3 mts away you must use 16mm tails.if closer 10mm will do

the cut out is about 25m away from cu. have checked size again they are 16mm. the shower is about 9.5kw.

I.m assuming that as you said this is a flat, the cut out is in a communal area 25mtres away from your CU in the flat.

I would henly block the cables out of the conduit and feed your small CU for the shower in 16mm double insulated. You will obviously need to check that your bonding is upto the current regs. As you have a 42 amp load on the shower I would run a 10mm to the shower unit from your small CU I would use a 45amp RCBO for the shower protective device.

thanks malcolmsanford. yes your right about being a communal area for cut out. and thank you for clearing up what size tails to use much appreciated.
