Tails to consumer Unit

Hi,
Is there any reason why I cannot use 3 core 25mm2 SWA cable, from the isolating switch to feed a consumer unit.

no but why would you want to and what would the 3rd core be doing?

Because I want to afford some protection to the tails from the kitchen fitters drillng and screwing.The consumer unit and meter cupboard are both within the kitchen and I want protection of some sort for the tails and I thought SWA is easier than drawning two tails and a 16mm through a large conduit
The 3rd core could be used for the PME earth 25mm instead of 16mm.
