Hi, just a quick question I am upgrading a cu and partial rewire. Now the tails from the cutout are 16mm and go in to a teleswitch, they then comeout and go in to a multiwatt reader then in to the ccu. Obviously I want to use 25mm tails after the meter so do I get the electric board out to upgrade there part? Can the teleswitch be removed by them ? At my house supply comes in to cut out into meter then in to isolator then in to cu.! Any advice appreciated I am new to the game also so be kind

So if the cable carrying capacity is less than 60amp I'm sound anything over then an upgrade is required?? Just to clear things up cheers for help guys.

It's no different to working out the cable size for a final circuit. If you know the CCC of the tails, and that it is protected by an appropriately rated fuse, then you're good to go!

The OSG insist on 25mm tails.. But remember this is a guide.. check cable carrying capacity for size of tails and that decides wether your tails need upgrading or not

They show 25mm tails, but remember that the OSG is aimed at new installs..... if it covered all the types of installs over the years it would be as big as the encylopedia britannica

It must depend on the DNO. I called out EDF to change meters (customer had economy 7 meters and didn't want that tarrif), I had installed new CU with 25mm tails to old meter, 60A fuse, when I returned they had also changed their old 16mm tails from head to 25mm. I was surprised they even changed the meter, let alone the tails!
