Hi.
Re the practice bomb through the fanlight, as promised here it is.
Oh dear what can the matter be.
Three old ladies locked in the lavatory.
Hiding from bombs monday to saturday.
9 Squadron knew they were there.

The first one name - Elizabeth Bonner.
She went away for safety from Donna.
But the bomb that was dropped still fell upon her.
For 9 Squadron knew they were there.

The second ones name was Mary Anne Styles.
She thought she was safe by 4 or 5 miles.
Till down came the bomb that banished her smiles.
For 9 Squadron knew she was there.

The third victims name was Mrs O Connor.
The other two ladies blamed it upon her.
Bur Flavell knew better upstairs in his bomber.
For he knew the ladies were their.

The stories near over and sorry to say.
That 9 Squadron aircraft are bombing today.
So, the ladies of Saltfleet are moving away.
For the Prussian Queen bog is tha target they say.

How about that then.

Sounds lovely mate.

Hi.
When I left school in 1944, I got a job as a Naval Messenger on the Grimsby naval base HMS Beaver. Bell bottoms and a funny salute. One day I was stood outside the Fleet Mail Office and a Frigate was coming out off the dock. There was a lot of signalling going on between the frigate and the Captains Bridge, I asked a petty Officer what was being said, he watched the signals for a few minutes and said. "Kittywake has just asked the bridge if Jerry laid any mines in the Roads and the bridge answered, we'll soon know, your first out this morning"!!!!

A Canberra has returned after some mods carried out at an MU ( Maintenance Unit) and return trip was troubled my problems with the G4b Compass. On checking the F700, we found the port tip tank had been changed while at the mu. Warning bells rang, the starboard wing tip houses the flux detector for the compasses. We climbed up onto the wing tip and removed the panels, me, being tall, it was suggested that I feel for the bolt. I did and at full stretch, was able to rescue the 6" x 1" bolt. The compasses appeared to be ok, but a test light was organised and I volunteered my services (grab a trip while you can) The pilot threw the Canberra around somewhat and I loved it. Compasses pronounced servicable.
