That's UK, not Republic of Ireland.You don’t pay any tax on the first £12,570pa according to the link.... then 20% to the next threshold, 40% over that.
if you slip into the higher tax bracket, then good on you for getting a well paid job.
Reminds me of young apprentices really taking the hump because they suddenly had to start paying any tax at all.
