hi there

have a customer who wants 4 wall lights removed as he is redecorating..
customer requires wires to be left in place as new wall lights will be fitted.
whats the best way of temporarily capping off the LNE at each wall light?

i would usually cap each core using a wago and fit a blank plate over the light box
unfortunately wires are just coming out of the wall ( no light box)

many thanks

sorry, forgot to mention the tape. what i have also done at times is to cut the L/N/E staggered then tape over. (only as a temp. measure i may add).

i must admit i do that but snip the exposed ends of which i do any way as once a cable has been gripped by a screw terminal then there is a very good chance it will break off when reconnected so snip of as you have said tel stagger the wires but i use self amagamating 6kv insulation tape aint going to move and its well insulated , once jobs done reterminate

leave them live and dangling out the wall, will give the plasterer/decorator something to think about while the paint dries .................

note I will not be held responsible if this is done or any harm comes to a professional tradesman, or even a painter.

You could put up a ruddy big sign and they'd still hit your wiring with their trowels whether they can see them or not!
