I suppose it’s something you have to get out of your system. I’ve had flash cars in the past but in retrospect should have ploughed the money into property. Biggest sense of satisfaction I had was when I swapped a Mercedes CLS for a bought and paid for Peugeot 206. Flash cars only if you’ve got money to burn or women to impress

If I was your age, an apprentice and had 17 grand to spend I'd be putting most of it towards a house. Or if you already have a house take a chunk off the mortgage.

But surely renting is worse.

No capital gain
Paying someone elses mortgage with no house to show for it after 25 years
Can be turfed out by the landlord against your will etc etc

i agree, but id rather not pay over the odds for 4 walls and a roof when i do purchase, buy a cheapish fixer upper and work my way up the ladder

The difference in cost,between two identical properties on the same street,one un-touched,the other fully re-furbed,is far and away,less than the cost of the work.

If it's just profit,then you are better off taking the increase,in a years time,on one you have not touched.

The other irony,is,the two most easy to move gaffs,are the one with everything done,and the one that is original
